LeBlanc, Locklear, and Lions
Sylvester Stallone came out swinging, Heather Locklear was mesmerizing and Matt LeBlanc introduced his new "Friends" in New York City, as NBC unveiled the new faces of Must-See TV.
LeBlanc will have a lot more than daddy duty next season. He and "Sopranos" star Drea de Matteo will take over the "Friends" time slot with his spin-off "Joey."
NBC head honcho Jeff Zucker said the show will keep the network synonymous with Thursday night. "I think the challenge for us is to remain strong and keep our Thursday night lineup, which is the lynch pin of the entire network, as strong as possible."
The network will also go for big laughs with "Father of the Pride," a computer generated show about Siegfried and Roy and their lions performing. John Goodman stars, and Zucker says it’s anything but child’s play. "It's really an adult comedy, and that's the level it will succeed on."
On the drama front, TV titan Heather Locklear will team up with "LA Law" star Blair Underwood for their new show "LAX," while former "ER" doctor Sharif Atkins plays cops and robbers in "Hawaii."
But NBC is getting an even bigger dose of reality -- a second season of "The Apprentice" is on tap, and Donald Trump couldn't be happier. "Apprentice" creator Mark Burnett is also teaming up with Sugar Ray Leonard and Sylvester Stallone for "The Contender," a search for America's next boxing champ.
And Burnett told us that he's trying to make a deal with yet another TV heavyweight -- Martha Stewart.
Count on lots of surprises and big hits when NBC launches their fall schedule in September. And for more on NBC’s latest lineup, check out Monday’s edition of "Extra."
