Extra! Extra! On The Line
The details on today's top Hollywood doings.
Simon Cowell is phoning in a new
commercial for the "American Idol" Nokia phone,
and only "Extra" went behind the scenes as Simon
bashed the cellular competition -- starting with the question:
which are more fun to judge, phones or contestants? Says Simon:
"Phones, because you can jump on them and smash them
to pieces and you can't do that with contestants."
Only "Extra" caught up with Lauren Holly
at the Counter Spy Shop in Beverly Hills, where she gave us
the inside information about her new Lifetime movie, "Caught
in the Act," a true story about a housewife-turned-private
eye to nab her cheating husband.
"She thought she'd found everything,
and then realized he was cheating on her and was devastated,"
Lauren told us. "Caught in the Act" airs Monday
night on Lifetime.
It's a rare look at a young Billy Crystal
in the new documentary about his family called "My Uncle Berns."
It was created by Billy's daughter, Lindsay,
and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
"The sense of family is extraordinary
in the piece and that's what you come away with," Crystal
told us. "My Uncle Berns" debuts on HBO in August.
John Leguizamo, Jane Krakowski
and Edie Falco were in New York, Monday, to announce
the nominees for the 2004 Tony Awards. Among those getting
nods were Phylicia Rashad for "Raisin in the Sun,"
(in which she co-stars with Sean "P. Diddy" Combs),
Doug Hughes for direction of "Frozen," and
Hugh Jackman for "The Boy from Oz." Kevin
Kline and Christopher Plummer also picked up best
actor nominations. "Wicked," the fantasy-musical
that offers a new slant on the world of the "Wizard of
Oz," picked up the most nominations, with a total of
ten.
Jackman will also host the Tony Awards --
catch them June 6th on CBS.
