How Good Bad Can Be
Some are the good, more are the bad and a few
are simply vocally challenged. Only "Extra" has
your first look at "The WB's Superstar USA," an
outrageous new talent show -- with a twist.
Singer Vitamin C, rapper Tone Loc and TV
producer Chris Briggs are the celebrity judges who give singers
a shot at fame, fortune and a record deal worth $100,000.
But what the wannabes don't know is that in this competition,
it's the good singers that get skewered and the bad ones
that receive rave reviews. And the bad ones definitely bring
things down to a hilarious new level of headstrong bad talent.
Tone Loc and Vitamin C try to keep a straight
face while delivering a heavy dose of sarcasm. "One day
you'll thank me for this," C deadpans before saying
"Next!"
Meanwhile, Briggs doles out his blistering
critiques and compliments without cracking a smile. "The
bad news is you're not a strong singer," he tells
one lovely hopeful (who in fact acquits herself well). "The
good news is you're hot and I'd like to take you
dinner."
After a nationwide search, 12 tone-deaf
dreamers will head to Hollywood to compete for the title.
See who's bad enough to make the cut, when "The
WB's Superstar USA" kicks off its earsplitting seven-week
contest next Monday.
