Anna Nicole Walks Out On Howard Stern Show
Only "Extra" is taking you inside the explosive confrontation that caused Anna Nicole Smith to lose control on Howard Stern's radio show. But it didn't start out that way.
Anna was smiling brightly as she arrived at Howard's studio, Tuesday morning. It was her first visit to Stern since 2002, when the brutally honest radio host confronted her about her ballooning weight; that visit was documented on Anna's E! reality TV show.
When Anna, minus 69 pounds, returned to Stern's studios on Tuesday, she hoped to plug the Trim Spa diet and maybe even get an apology. But she never did, and within minutes, she left the studio claiming that Stern had banished her TV crew. "Howard Stern wouldn't let us film inside, but they would film us," Smith revealed. "I think it's ridiculous."
Stern claims he did agree to allow Anna's cameras, and "Extra" was there for the surreal scene on the street as Stern's producer Gary Dell'Abate approached Anna's white hummer limousine, hoping to lure her back inside. But Anna's attorney, who coincidentally is named Howard K. Stern, was fuming.
In a remarkable "fly-on-the-wall" moment, "Extra's" cameras continued rolling as Anna's attorney argued with Howard's producer. Dell'Abate told Stern, "I can't figure you out, I genuinely can't figure you out. You're a nice guy on the phone and you get here and you act very odd."
Then we caught Anna Nicole's angry phone conversation with Stern,
during which she stated, "You owe me an apology; you called
me a big, fat, porker pig and tried to get me up on a scale."
When Stern responded, "And who helped you lose weight?"
Smith replied, "Does that get you off, to call people fat?
Goodbye, I'm leaving."
The confrontation ended with a tense handshake between Howard's and Anna's people, and Dell'Abate saying, "Nice to know ya."
As Howard's producer stormed away, Smith opened the limo door,
hoping to set the record straight, telling us, "I did not
lose weight because of Howard Stern. It wasn't because of him.
I lost it for myself. What he said to me was very hurtful. I
don't think it's right, and I wanted to go in there and tell
him that."
Anna finally regained her composure, signed one more autograph and fired one last shot: "I'm not even going to give him the respect of being angry. I love all y'all."
