The Dixie Chicks
The Dixie Chicks have nothing to hide on the
cover of the upcoming Entertainment Weekly. The ladies are
going public to set the record straight about the protest
over their bashing of President Bush. Natalie says, "We
support the troops 100%. We have said that from day one. There's
no correlation in not wanting a war and not supporting the
troops who are doing the job."
Six weeks after Natalie Manes spoke out against
the president in London, all three members of the Texas trio
are talking tonight to Diane Sawyer on ABC's "Primetime
Thursday." Sawyer says, "I think it's fair to say
they were stunned by the backlash."
A backlash that included CD smashing and radio boycotts. The
Chicks admit the angry words sting. Martie says, "It's
a lot on our shoulders and a lot on her shoulders... They forgot
she's a human being... We are pretty tough and we have each
other and we stand by each other through thick and thin."
And in an "Extra" exclusive, we get to hear how the
Dixie Chicks feel about President Bush now. Martie says,, "I
think Americans needed to feel like whether we agreed with it
or not, our voice is being heard."
The singers will find out how the fans really feel when they
kick off a concert tour May 1st. Metal detectors will be installed
to protect the stars, but the stars know it may take more to
safeguard their image. Natalie saysx, "If you don't like
who I am, I really can't do anything about that." |
