'American Idol'

Last Wednesday, Rickey Smith became "American Idols" latest casualty. Now Rickey tells "Extra" that he may be out, but he's not down. He says, "I just came in with the mentality you do your best and let America decide. We all realize there's only going to be one American Idol, we have to deal with it."

Now that it's down to eight, who will be that "American Idol?" Who better to speculate than the original Idol. "Extra" caught up with Kelly Clarkson and she says this year’s crop of talent is through the roof. She says, "I really love Reuben. He is just awesome, his presence on stage, his voice."

Since her big win, Kelly's been on the ride of her life. Now she's releasing her debut CD appropriately titled, "Thankful."

She's already won over pop star Christina Aguilera who actually co-wrote the first single from the album, "Miss Independent." Kelly says, "The song is awesome because I’m a really big fan of her writing."
