Playmate of the Year
Talk about taking Playboy by storm. Just a year after a blind leap of faith landed her in Los Angeles, Dalene Kurtis owns the title as the newest Playmate of the Year.
Prior to Playboy, the 24-year-old was back in her hometown of Bakersfield, Ca, spinning her wheels working at an insurance company. She says, “I just one day decided I’m not going to sit in this job and be miserable. I'm just going to go. And I quit and moved to L.A."
Less than a month after landing in Los Angeles, she was caught in a seven-car pile-up. Merely days after escaping with no major injuries, Dalene rolled into the Valentine's arty at the Playboy mansion with no date and no connections. That's when a chance meeting with Hugh Hefner led to Dalene becoming Miss September 2001. It was a move she knew her parents would embrace - eventually.
So what's next for the Playmate of the Year? There's her own Playboy doll and Dalene now wants to conquer TV, eyeing the job Brooke Burke is leaving as host of E's "Wild On." She says, “I'm so happy. I can’t complain. Hell, I'd be at an insurance company right now.”
