Girls Gone Wild
He's got a Ferrari and a private jet. He's building a mansion in Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks’ neighborhood and he's not even thirty. Joe Francis says, “When I was in college I was impressed by people who had a Mercedes. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d have my own plane."
Joe is a 29-year-old entrepreneur and you'll
never guess just how he made his fortune. He's the brains behind
those sexy "Girls Gone Wild" videos you may have seen advertised
on late night TV. They aren't actresses, just party girls having
a good time, from spring break to Mardi Gras, taking off their
tops for a free t-shirt. Joe says, “It's almost become too easy.
There are too many girls that want to be in 'Girls Gone Wild.'
Now girls run up to us and start taking their clothes off."
No one's more amazed than Joe at his incredible success. He says, “I just thought ‘Girls Gone Wild’ was something I was going to do for a year or so. I thought I’d sell a few videos."
Five years later Joe is flying to Lake Tahoe on his private jet to check out his new mountain retreat. It's yet another dream come true for Francis, who released his first video in 1997 after being laughed out of Hollywood for his outrageous ideas. He says, “I took cash advances on my credit cards and said, 'Screw it. I'm going around you guys.’"
But all this mind-boggling success does bring problems. Joe says, “The toughest thing for me is finding a girl, and dating a girl and knowing that she's not after these things that basically aren't important to me."
But Joe Francis doesn't expect any sympathy. He says, “I'm having a blast."
