Lisa Edelstein
She was a transsexual on “Ally McBeal,” a sex-obsessed artist on “Frasier,” and a high-priced call girl on “The West Wing.” Lisa Edelstein says, “I think I’ve cornered the market on Jewish lesbian transsexual whores. No one else gets those parts."
Now Lisa Edelstein, the actress with the colorful resume, is taking a “Leap of Faith” with a much more traditional role. On the new NBC sitcom, Lisa plays Patti, just one of the girls longing for love. Lisa says of her character, “She really goes for everything that she tries. She doesn't do anything halfway."
To look at Lisa's resume is to see just half of the picture. Lisa also rescues animals. She says, “Wolfie has cerebral palsy and when I got him he couldn't walk. Now he runs and jumps and he doesn't have any seizures.”
Lisa is so dedicated to animals that she refuses to eat meat or wear animal products. She says, “The hardest part about being vegan is shoes. I mean really that's the only difficult part, finding shoes that don't have leather on them."
While her TV alter ego is a single city girl, in real life the actress has a boyfriend and she's into the great outdoors, practicing yoga and hiking every day. She says, “Living in Los Angeles and being in this business, it's just so important to find your way to somewhere natural."
And with a little faith, we bet Lisa will make the leap to superstardom.
