Trump's Next Big Deal: Marriage
Billionaire bachelor Donald Trump is finally tying the knot with his longtime love, Melania Knauss. He phoned in the great news to his friends, Regis and Kelly, Thursday morning, where he revealed, "No date yet, but sometime over the next not-too-long period of time. I’m just very happy about it."
Trump proposed on Monday, just minutes before he and Melania arrived at the Costume Institute Ball in New York. It turns out the brilliant diamond spotted on Melania's hand was not just for show, but a token of Trump's everlasting devotion to the Slovenian model, who's been by his side since 1999, around the time she appeared nude on the cover of GQ.
"We met at a friend's party," said Trump. "We went out to dinner. We had a great Valentine's dinner."
Melania insisted that although he appears tough on the outside, Trump is a romantic at heart. And the ring, by Graff, features a rare 12-karat, flawless emerald diamond set in platinum.
Famed divorce attorney Raoul Felder says no matter how much in love Trump is with Melania, the tycoon’s still being careful to cover his assets. "Donald is basically the father of pre-nuptial agreements in America," Felder maintains.
Meanwhile, "Extra" got an exclusive engagement reaction from Trump's trusted advisor George Ross, who said, "Donald and Melania, you have my heartiest congratulations. You’ll be very happy together."
Trump’s ex-wife, Ivana, even told "Extra" this morning that, "Donald has a lot of experience, and I think it's wonderful for him and Melania."
