P. Diddy Hits the Great White Way
Oprah Winfrey braved the New York rain, Monday, to support her friend, rap mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, in his Broadway debut, starring in the classic "A Raisin in the Sun."
"I applaud his ambition and his courage," Winfrey told us. "I just love the idea of people embracing new things in their lives."
Winfrey was just one among an audience of all-stars who turned out to watch P. Diddy’s portrayal of Walter Lee Younger, a man struggling to keep his family together.
We spoke to Beyoncé about P. Diddy’s big night, and she told
us, "I know Puffy's going to do a great job. I feel like
he can do anything."
Of course, Combs’ mom, Janice, agreed with Beyoncé: "My baby is turning out, I told him to roar like a lion and that’s what he’s doing."
After his standing ovation, "Extra" caught up with P. Diddy at his blowout after-party, where he told us, "It feels incredible; it's historical and it has just been an incredibly humbling experience."
P. Diddy was even more taken aback when he got props from stars like Spike Lee and his co-star, Phylicia Rashad. "Sean is the most amazing person," Rashad told us.
P. Diddy will be center stage in "A Raisin in the Sun" through July 11th.
