More Magazine Honors Senator Clinton
Call it the ultimate power lunch, as "Extra" and More magazine honored Hillary Rodham Clinton with their Alpha Woman Award.
"Extra" co-hosted the event, and our Dayna Devon joined Barbara Walters, Katie Couric, Joan London, Mary Steenburgen and many others in celebrating the award, which recognizes dynamic and spirited women over the age of 40.
There's no arguing that Clinton does do it all -- from her time as First Lady to the senate floor, to her bestselling biography "Living History," which will be released in paperback this month.
And the New York senator let us in on what makes an Alpha woman.
"It's always a balancing act for us women," she told
us. "I think it goes with the territory of wanting to live
as full a life as possible, and being willing to take on responsibilities
for yourself, your family and a job out in the world. But I
wouldn't have it any other way."
So what advice would Hillary give to young women, including her daughter Chelsea, to follow in her footsteps? "You have to follow your own heart," she said. "You can take inspiration and get life lessons from a lot of people. But at the real decision points in anyone's life, you have to listen to your own heart; you can't live your life for anyone else."
"I think we're just really, as a country, getting ready to view women as being in that strong role," Clinton added. "And that is okay."
The More magazine event attendees were also treated to an Alpha of a goody bag -- and we want to give you one of your own. From a Baume and Mercier watch to a Pond's crystal-studded case and a Garnier Nutriesse bathrobe and hair care products, this bag is powerfully packed with what you need to look and feel your best.
