'Idol' Insider: Jennifer's Side

It was the shocking diva dismissal that left all "American Idol" fans speechless. Now, fallen "Idol" Jennifer Hudson has given "Extra" the inside scoop on what went down. And Hudson wasn't laying her mic down easy.

"I was happy," she told us. "But I want what is meant for me. So I'm okay."

Jennifer appeared on "Regis and Kelly," Monday morning, and said of being voted off, "I was more shocked to see La Toya and Fantasia on each side of me."

That's when guest host George Lopez weighed in on who he thought should have been eliminated: "The dude with the red hair has got to go, what the hell is going on?"

So what's next for the former "Idol" diva? "Hopefully I will get to work with Elton John and Barry Manilow and do some more business stuff," Jennifer revealed to us.

So why does Hudson think America voted like this? "I think people assumed we were going to be safe," Hudson said. "Everyone backstage was in tears and I was like, 'Wow, I didn't think they cared, to be honest.'"

"It's never what you think it is and that's what makes 'American Idol' 'American Idol,'" Hudson said, but added, "I think it would have been the biggest treat, the baddest showdown 'American Idol' has ever had, if they would have let me, Fantasia and La Toya battle it out."
