Idol Insider: Becoming a Diva-nation
Simon says "American Idol" is no longer a man’s competition. The judge with a grudge told John Stevens after his Tuesday performance, "I'm really starting to get a feeling of who the best singers are in this competition. John you're not one of them." And just to rub it in, Cowell couldn’t help but add, "I know who you remind me of -- Stan Laurel."
Today, the one and only Stan Laurel and guest judge and mentor Barry Manilow came to "Extra" to say that taking potshots is unfair. "Working with these kids, they are very brave," Manilow insisted.
"AI" judge Randy Jackson also stopped by to confirm one thing: "This has definitely turned into ‘American Diva,’" noting that Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia and La Toya seemed to have raised the bar. "I don't think there's a question that they're the three best singers," Jackson told us.
Now Randy and Paula are taking their judging act to "The Bernie Mac Show," and we went behind the scenes with the dynamic duo as they critiqued Bernie on a commercial he appears in within the episode.
"We love Bernie. That's why we're here," Jackson stated.
So how would Bernie judge the judges? "They’re awful; they aren’t good at what they do, period."
Sounds like he's taken a few lessons from Simon -- but you can judge for yourself, on the next round of "The Bernie Mac Show," Monday night on FOX.
And of course, don’t miss the "American Idol" results show, Wednesday night.
