'Idol' Judge Quentin Shoots From the Lip
He's directed some of the "baddest" films ever, but tomorrow night, Quentin Tarantino really has his work cut out for him. Quentin sat down with us for an exclusive Q&A about his shot as an "American Idol" judge.
So what does Quentin think about the show’s guest judges? "Here's the thing people don't know: the celebrity judges are the worst thing on that show," says Quentin. "It's a great show. The celebrity judges suck!"
Sounds like a good bet he won't be pulling any punches, then. "I'm ready to go," he declares. "I have my favorites and the people I don't like. I'm all ready to judge them."
And just how did this indie-maverik manage to catch "Idol" fever? "Coming home one night from editing, I turned it on and said ‘let's just see what this is about’. And then Ruben came on, and I said, ‘damn, he's really good.’"
That happened last year, and this year, Quentin admits, he's hooked. "I have a group of friends I watch the show with all the time," Quentin tells us. "And when it's through, the girls go, ‘yeah, Simon's right. Simon's always right!’"
Meanwhile, Simon himself told us that he's a huge fan of the cutting-edge director: "When I met him, I wanted to talk about his movies," Simon said. "And he wanted to talk about the contestants on American Idol!"
But it's no secret how Simon feels about most celebrity judges. And his co-judge, Paula’s got the explanation: "Simon can't stand guest judges, you know why? ‘Cause it puts a wedge between Simon and I. Simon needs to be able to do this to me."
But things are different this time, says Simon: "I'm gonna make an exception to the rule this time and welcome the guest judge."
So the question remains, will Mr. "Kill Bill" out-mean Mr. Nasty? See for yourself, tomorrow night on FOX.
