Stamos Split Rocks Hollywood
The supermodel turned leading lady and the handsome sitcom star were one of show business’ most beautiful and successful couples, so the news of their breakup has taken Hollywood by surprise. Now, only "Extra" tells you the two things that may have driven Rebecca Romijn and John Stamos apart.
First problem: Babies. Us Weekly Senior Editor
Caroline Schaefer, tells us that John -- who's 40 -- felt his
clock ticking, but Rebecca didn't: "John has been very
vocal about the fact he wants kids. Rebecca's just not ready,"
Schaefer reports. "She's 31, and her career -- her film
career is on the rise and she's not ready to settle down and
have kids yet."
In her new movie, "Godsend," Rebecca plays a mom.
And just days ago, we asked her if the role got her thinking
about having kids. Her answer was revealing: "I can't wait
to be a mom," Rebecca told us. "But it's not going
to happen now. There’s no timeframe."
Rebecca says she fell for John when she first laid eyes on him.
Their first date was at Disneyland. But after five years of
marriage, their second problem has been distance: while John
was working on Broadway, Rebecca was making movies.
Says Schaefer: "He's had to be in New York, while she's had to be in Paris. They spend very little time together and it's hard for them."
Rebecca's career is taking off. In addition to "Godsend," she's starring in another new movie, called "The Punisher," and she's on the covers of "Ocean Drive" and May’s issue of "Elle" magazines. A few years ago, we interviewed the couple and they joked about Rebecca's success. "I enjoyed watching TV the other day and she wasn't on, quipped John.
And after Rebecca responded, "Oh honey, that's not nice,"
John rejoined: "Do I sound jealous?"
Nonetheless, insiders insist that Rebecca's success has nothing to do with the split.
Whatever the case, it appears that one of Hollywood's most beautiful couples will have to regroup and find happiness and success alone.
