Remember the Alamo But Forget the Police, Says Patric
Jason Patric does not want a videotape of him being arrested for public intoxication and resisting arrest to be his legacy. So now, the movie star is fighting back.
Jason appeared on "Good Morning America"
on Thursday, to tell Diane Sawyer his side of the story. Patric
was out late with a group of friends in Austin, Texas, two Sundays
ago, following the San Antonio premiere of his new movie, "The
Alamo," when he says an officer ordered everyone to move
back. Patric said he giggled at the site of the officer riding
a bicycle, barking orders on a megaphone.
"Next thing I know he hits me and knocks me to the ground," Patric told Sawyer. "He hit me in the back of the neck."
Police claim Patric was publicly intoxicated and then resisted arrest. But Patric maintained, "I did neither and all that is going to come out."
Jason is making the rounds to defend his good name. "Extra" obtained clips from his appearance on the upcoming "Larry King Weekend Show," where Patric says, "There are things going on now about the charges."
Patric wishes the focus instead was on "The Alamo,"
which opens Friday. Days before his arrest, Patric actually
sat down with "Extra" to talk about his new role,
playing Texas hero James Bowie.
"Whenever I can find a guy in conflict or some kind of
primal struggle, I find it interesting," he told us then.
Little did Patric know, hours later he would find himself in a struggle with police and then in a very public struggle to regain his good name.
