Aging Humorously with Jennifer Garner
TV "tough girl" Jennifer Garner is known for kicking bad-guy butt on "Alias" every week. But now, she’s shedding her serious side for laughs in "13 going on 30."
In the film, Garner stars as a 13-year-old girl whose birthday wish is to be 30, and suddenly and mysteriously, the wish comes true. "It’s really like nothing I’ve done before," Garner shared with us. "You know there’s a chance you’re just going to get smashed with a baseball bat, but this character was actually pretty close to my own personality."
The Golden Globe winner also revealed that it was her "Alias" crew and cast-mates who talked her into taking the comic role. "I told them about this one and said, ‘Is that too weird? Should I not do that?’ They were like, ‘Jennifer, you are 13. I hate to tell you, but as soon as they say ‘cut,’ you stop being super serious spy woman and you're 13, so now you can get a paycheck for it.’"
Another bonus for Garner while shooting the film? She got to be none other than Michael Jackson for a moment, showing off some of her "Thriller" moves. "That was so much fun," Garner admitted. "I felt tireless through the day. It was like shooting a huge fight to me."
Garner also shed some light on another topic she’s passionate about -- Martha Stewart. In fact, Jen loves everything Martha so much, that she named her dog after the Domestic Diva. So does she think Stewart should get another trial?
"I think it’s a shame, everything she's been through and I so, so wish her the best," Garner told us. "But I don’t know what the best is for her. In the meantime, my dog, Martha Stewart, is very, very happy and very, very good."
Check out Jennifer’s funny side when "13 going on 30" opens, April 23rd.
