Adrien Brody
It was the Oscar’s most poignant moment: Adrien Brody remembering a comrade in arms. He said during his acceptance speech, "I have a friend from Queens who's a soldier in Kuwait right now, Tommy Zarobinski, and I hope you and your boys make it back real soon."
Nobody was more touched by the Oscar winner's words than Tommy Zarobinski’s parents, Thomas and Ada. Ada says, "I was happy to hear in a time like that he remembered my son."
The Zarobinskis have not heard from their son in a week when he called from the Iraqi border. Of course, they feared the worst when a neighbor came to their door late Sunday night and said they had just heard Tommy’s name on television. Thomas says, "And I thought, ‘Oh my God.’ I thought something happened."
The Zarobinskis have known Adrien Brody since he was 13. He and Tommy went to New York's High School of Art and Design together and have kept in touch since. The Zarobinskis love Adrien like a son. Ada says, "He's a wonderful person, has a good heart, and he is down to earth."
The Zarobinskis are now praying for the day when they can sit at the table with their son and his famous friend and ask about that kiss with Halle Berry.
