Hollywood's Breast Obsession
Dangerous curves made Pam Anderson a superstar. But does size still matter in Hollywood?
Janice Min, executive editor of Us Weekly, explores this topic in next week's issue and talked size with some of Hollywood’s beauties. She says, "Carmen Electra, Donna D’Errico, these were women who had boob jobs. Melanie Griffith talked to us and said it's almost impossible not to obsess about your breasts in Hollywood because you are constantly being judged."
Patricia Heaton, the Emmy-winning star of "Everybody Loves Raymond," has been outspoken about having plastic surgery, including work done to enhance her figure. She says, "The advantage to having them lifted is that my waistline got smaller because I no longer had to tuck them into my belt."
But surgery is not the only way actresses get a boost. Min says, "There are a lot of tricks that Hollywood uses. We talked to the person who dresses Jennifer Garner in ‘Alias’ and she uses a lot of gel pads and she doesn't know what she would do without gel pads."
Still Min says these days there are plenty of big stars without a big chest. She says, "All you have to do is look at the Oscar nominees this year. You have Renee Zelwegger, Julianne Moore, Nicole Kidman."
But despite those successes, the plastic surgeons in Los Angeles aren't exactly going broke. Min says, "It's still the most popular surgery in town, but one change we're seeing is that the work being done is smaller. The ideal breast now is Jennifer Aniston’s shape. This is the shape that people are coming in requesting."
And with Jennifer, it's all-natural! Talk about a girl's best friend.
