NAACP Image Awards
They rolled out the red carpet Saturday night in Los Angeles and the party got jumping for the NAACP Image Awards. Gabrielle Union said, "It's one of those must be at events for black Hollywood."
Believe it or not, this gala all started as an idea in the living room of superstar Sammy Davis Jr.
Denzel Washington was a serious triple threat, sweeping all three awards he was nominated for. Denzel said, "It's an embarrassment of riches. I’m very appreciative."
And like Denzel, Halle Berry was also getting an encore to follow
up last year's Oscar victory. Halle said, "Starting off
with all the other awards for 'Monster’s Ball' and ending it
with an award for a Bond. Nobody ever thinks they're going to
win an award for a James Bond movie. This is great."
Director Spike Lee got a standing ovation as he was inducted into the Image Awards Hall of Fame. Lee said, "I'm not dead yet, I got another 25 films to go before I’m going to hang it up."
