Behind the Velvet Rope: Janet on Jermaine,
Justin, Jo and 'Strawberry'
In her first interview since her Super Bowl halftime performance, Janet Jackson sat down exclusively with "Extra" to talk about everything from the Jackson family scandals to the new man in her life, and even her secret sex fantasies. Hold onto your hats, because, like everything the controversial diva does, this one got hot.
First off, what about "the event?"
Speaking about her Super Bowl performance, Janet told us, "There
are more important things going on in the world than a little
breast. There’s been enough drama surrounding me already, I
don’t need anymore."
All right then, so is Miss Jackson in love? "Mmmm… Can’t you tell?" Jackson immediately answered, smiling.
Jackson revealed that she’s fallen head-over-heels for famed record producer Jermaine Dupri. And did he give her that huge diamond glittering on her engagement finger? A coy Janet would neither confirm nor deny, only saying laughingly, "his time is up, isn’t it?"
But you can be sure that ring's not from Justin Timberlake,
whom Jackson says she hasn't spoken to since their infamous
Super Bowl duet strained their friendship. "We need to
talk," Jackson admitted. "We have a bit of talking
to do -- me and Justin Timberlake, I think."
What would she tell him? "I think I would tell him in private what I need to tell him."
But Janet did reveal some other very private thoughts she says inspired her new CD "Damita Jo:" "It’s about love and the different characters and personalities that live within me."
And Jackson said she calls one of these personalities "Strawberry:" "Strawberry is a character who lives within me. She comes out at moments. She's just a very, very sexual person that you hear on the album."
So when was the last time Strawberry came out to play? "Not that long ago, I’ll put it like that," Jackson told us.
Meanwhile, Jackson herself will be coming out to play again when she hosts this week's "Saturday Night Live." And nobody knows better than Jackson that her Super Bowl performance is going to be one tough act to follow.
