Idol Insider: Hopefuls Homeless; Ruben On the Road
TV’s hottest voices are singing the blues. As America searches for a superstar, "American Idol's" final ten contestants have been forced to search for a new home.
Their palatial pad, where TV’s top-rated show gives the wannabes a taste of the lush life, was found to have some uninvited guests. Just after America terminated Matthew Rogers, the remaining contestants were left homeless while the mansion was fumigated for termites.
"I think someone planted the termites," Judge Randy Jackson joked. "I think they should move in with Simon, that’ll teach them."
Luckily, producers didn't heed Randy's advice, instead the hopefuls were checked into a Hollywood hotel while exterminators raid-ed the bugs. FOX has told "Extra" the house is now critter free and ready for another "American Idol" infestation. So who’ll be the next to bite the dust? The "AI" showdown continues Tuesday night on FOX.
In other "AI" news, Ruben Studdard made his triumphant
return to Hollywood, Thursday night, for his first solo tour,
entitled "Soulful." We went backstage with America’s
favorite velvet teddy bear to find out about love and life on
the road.
"The only social life I have is with my band and my brother," Studdard told us. So, no special girl in his life? "No, none at all."
But Ruben’s not complaining: "I been going to concerts my whole life and I always wished I could be on stage with them, so I'm doing my own thing."
Studdard may be doing his thing, but he’s been keeping an eye on the next class of "Idols," and gave us his predictions: "Fantasia’s really dope, Jennifer’s really good, and so it is Latoya."
Ruben even sent out some "Idol" invitations to the show, including one to Simon Cowell.
Can't make it to a show? Well, it’s no problem because Studdard
is coming to a theater near you Friday night, thanks to a cameo
in "Scooby Doo 2."
"I have a greater respect for people who do movies,"
Studdard admitted. "It’s a long day's work."
