From Catholics to Kabbalists: How Stars Worship
Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher lent their star power to a passionate new project at Los Angeles' Kabbalah center this past weekend. Moore and her daughters joined Madonna and her family to help launch the children’s version of the Kabbalah handbook, "The 72 Names of God," written by the center’s spiritual leader, Rabbi Yehunda Berg.
Kabbalah is the mystical 4000 year-old Jewish-based
religion which famous followers like Britney Spears, Moore and
Madonna have helped go mainstream.
"What I study is not exclusive of other spiritual beliefs and is non-judgmental," Madonna told us recently of her religion. "Take responsibility for your actions and your words."
People Magazine’s Executive Editor Larry Hackett said Kabbalah is among the many beliefs the magazine investigates in their upcoming cover story "Does Hollywood have Faith?" an inside look at how stars worship. "It’s been getting quite a bit of interest," Hackett told us. "There are plenty of folks out there who are worshipping."
Famous folks like Denzel Washington and Jessica Simpson are devout Christians, and Richard Gere and Uma Thurman are big-name Buddhists.
Tom Cruise and John Travolta have been vocal about their devotion to Scientology. "What Tom Cruise and John Travolta have said is it gives them a certain focus, a certain way to get what they want," Hackett revealed.
And we all know about Mel Gibson’s "Passion" for Catholicism.
As Moore, Kutcher and Madonna work to spread the Kabbalah message of sharing to the kids, it’s clear that Hollywood is keeping the faith.
