Rumor Control: Late Night Love
One day after her bizarre appearance on "The Late Show" and her arrest for allegedly throwing a mic stand at a fan, the media began following Courtney Love’s every move. And Love didn’t disappoint.
"Let’s hope I don’t get arrested," Love said to a herd of reporters. "You guys all want a shot? Calm down, I’ll give you a shot."
Now, "Extra" sets the record straight on Love’s latest wild adventure. Fact or fiction -- the rebel rocker on drugs? Her behavior certainly has been bizarre. Even on Thursday, Love appeared a little frazzled getting into her limo.
But Tuesday night while performing at a New York nightclub, she told the crowd that the rumors are not true -- shouting, "I'm not on drugs." Last fall in a published interview, Love said the only thing she takes is a prescription for Xanax.
And is it fact or fiction that Love is getting an abundance
of star support? This one is fact -- Thursday night, Ethan Hawke
showed up to watch her perform, as well as Steven Van Zandt,
who said he didn’t believe that Love meant to hurt the man.
"Sounds silly and accidental," said the "Sopranos"
star, and blamed the media: "They're looking for things
to happen."
Fact or fiction -- Love is gearing up for a custody battle, Her 11-year-old daughter, Francis Bean, is with her step-dad now, and yes, Love wants her back.
But Us Weekly News Director Mark Malkin tells us that this trip to the Big Apple has not helped the star’s chances. "Judges are not going to look at this and say, ‘You could take care of your child full-time.’ So I don't think she's doing herself any favors."
Finally, fact or fiction -- there was another injury at Love’s concert last night. Fact: according to an Internet report, Love swan dived into the crowd, landing on a photographer who was rushed to the hospital. But this time there were no arrests.
