Idol Insider: An Emotional Farewell

Wednesday night meant “Adios” to Bulgarian beauty, Leah, on “American Idol,” as America voted off Leah Labelle. “AI” host Ryan Seacrest says the 17-year-old took the news so hard, that Randy and Paula went backstage to console her.

“It was an emotional goodbye,” Seacrest told us. “Sometimes they’re in tears, sometimes they’re not. Last night you certainly felt the emotions.”

The feelings were so strong that some of the judges got caught up in it all. “Randy and Paula both came backstage to talk to the contestants, most of who were in tears, and they said something to Leah,” Ryan told us. “But one judge didn't go back there, Simon just left.”

Just last week, Leah told us that she felt like Judge Simon Cowell was giving her mixed signals. “Simon was nice and then he compared me with a fashion designer dress -- with a rip,” Leah remembered.

But Cowell told us his message was always loud and clear: “In other words, there's an imperfection there,” Simon agreed, then went further: “she's more than a rip, I think it’s a tear.”

Seacrest insisted the goodbyes would only get harder. “This is a solo competition, so they all know that if they're going to win, they're going to have to see everybody else leave.”
