Motherhood, Magazines and Men
In Angelina Jolie’s new thriller, "Taking Lives," the Oscar winner plays a top FBI profiler with unconventional crime-solving techniques. Ethan Hawke costars as the museum employee enlisted to help the sexy profiler catch a killer.
But when "Extra" sat down with Jolie,
it was her own life she wanted to profile. We went one-on-one
with the superstar.
"Extra:" You've been offered all kinds of roles, is
there a role out there that you'd love to jump into?
Jolie: Now, I just want to put my kid in school, and I want
to learn how to be a real person a little more. I want to learn
how to cook and have weeks of making lunches and taking my kid
to school.
E: What has changed the most for you since your son, Maddox,
was placed in your life?
J: Just a sense of overwhelming peace, but there's also this
overwhelming chaos because he's a lunatic. He’s 2, so he's kind
of my little peaceful friend, but he's also the toughest partner
I've ever had. He's adopted, but he's certainly my kid.
E: You're steaming up the cover of the current GQ magazine.
How do you feel when you see yourself in a hot layout like this?
J: I think isn't it great that that's someone's mom. I suddenly
woke up a year ago and thought, 'My God, I’ve lost all sexuality.'
I've got to get back to that.
E: Do you embarrass easily when people talk about the lips and
how they're the big phenomenon?
J: I take it as a compliment. Sometimes I feel very sexual and
sometimes I don't at all.
E: What can you tell us about your new film, "Alexander
the Great?"
J: Me, Colin, Val and Oliver -- you couldn't get a wilder group
-- and yet we thought the ancient Greeks were not a calm little
normal bunch, so it kind of works.
E: How crazy was it, people talking about you and Colin being
romantically linked?
J: He's a great guy and we're both single people so it makes
sense we'd be put into a romantic thing. But as insane as it
sounds, we're actually just great friends."
