You Must Remember This

It’s a different kind of role for Jim Carrey in the upcoming "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," which also stars Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst and Elijah Wood and focuses on memory-erasing. Jim talked to "Extra" about the offbeat film.

So what’s "Sunshine" about? Carrey found it a bit difficult to explain: "It's a romance but it's not romantic. Or how do I put this? It's romantic but not romanticized is what I'm trying to say. And put your decoders on."

What is for sure is that you’ll see a side of Jim you rarely ever see: "I'm so craggy in it. You see every wrinkle, scar and whatever... no makeup," Jim admitted.

And what about when Carrey’s out and about? Do people want him to be as funny off the camera as he is onscreen? "I'm funny when I want to be funny and that's just kind of how I deal with the world. When I’m faced with someone who's going 'you're disappointing me,' I go, 'Well, you need to know too much.'"

And for the record, there's only one thing Carrey would like to permanently erase from his mind: "’Duck Factory’ probably, that series I did." (In case you don’t remember, that was Jim’s first big role - now... forget we told you anything).

For more with Jim Carrey and his new movie, don’t forget to catch the Monday edition of "Extra."
