Johnny's Big Year: Sparrow, SAG and Scares
Johnny Depp’s new film, "Secret Window," in which the star trades the high seas for a lonely cabin in the middle of nowhere, is already scaring up buzz. In the thriller, based on a Stephen King novel, Depp plays a popular author trying to work out the ending to his latest story, only to see it come true before his eyes.
"I was really sucked into the story," Depp revealed. "The writing is everything. If somebody can surprise you these days in a screenplay, that is a major accomplishment."
But Depp’s co-stars, John Turturro and Maria Bello, say Depp's performance will suck fans into the supernatural story. Not only that, but "He’s incredibly good looking," declares Turturro.
"He’s just such an incredible actor, I’ve always been such a big fan," adds Bello.
It has been a big year for Depp; he won a SAG Award for Best Actor in "Pirates of the Caribbean," but wasn't able to attend. "My kiddies were a little bit sick, they had the stomach flu," Depp recalls. "So I was home that night and my daughter turned (the show) on. Suddenly they called my name and my only reaction was, ‘What?’"
"I was totally, completely shocked, completely thrown for a loop," Depp adds. "But leave it to a bunch of actors to throw you a curveball like that."
But it’ll be the fans who won't believe what's around the bend, when "Secret Window" screams into theaters March 12th.
