Jane Kaczmarek Missing From 'Malcolm'
On Fox's hit comedy "Malcolm in the Middle," Jane Kaczmarek plays Lois, the beleaguered drill-sergeant mother of four misbehaving boys. But tonight, Malcolm’s TV mom is in the middle of a mystery.
Sources tell "Extra" that Kaczmarek has not reported to the set of "Malcolm" for at least two weeks, forcing producers to shoot around the missing actress for the rest of the season. Why? Kaczmarek has reportedly blamed her absence on migraine headaches, but insiders believe she may be holding out for a raise.
Kaczmarek left the show for two days last fall and reportedly ended up with a raise.
But Janet Weeks of TV Guide says Kaczmarek may be more motivated by motherhood than money.
When "Extra" first profiled Jane and husband Bradley Whitford just over a year ago, it was clear that she puts family before fame and fortune. She said, "Acting has been wonderful, and I’ve had a great, great time doing it, but I really feel ready to make the major focus of my life something else. And I think that lies in the arena of children."
For now, Kaczmarek TV family is in the middle of an unscripted cliffhanger.
