Gennifer Flowers
She's back for an encore, singing those Bill Clinton blues again. But this time, Gennifer Flowers believes a new legal battle to salvage her reputation will end on a high note. She says, "Ultimately, justice will prevail."
The 51-year-old cabaret singer claims former White House aides George Stephanopoulos and James Carville conspired to ruin her on the orders of Hillary Clinton. Gennifer says, "They launched a character assassination campaign against me that was brutal."
Now, attorney Larry Klayman has asked a federal appeals court to reopen a defamation suit he says was unfairly dismissed two years ago. He says, "She was terrorized, she was called a prostitute, she was called a liar, she was destroyed."
Klayman took Gennifer's case on behalf of Judicial Watch, a conservative group that's been accused of Clinton bashing. Klayman insists, however, Gennifer was the genuine victim of a plot to discredit her story that she had been Bill Clinton's longtime mistress. He says, "It's time for the truth."
Gennifer says the alleged smear campaign made her such a pariah that she couldn't get a singing engagement anywhere except the piano bar of her new husband's restaurant in New Orleans. She says, "It wasn't until I got myself in this position that I knew I could hopefully enjoy an ongoing singing career."
Now Gennifer and her attorney are hoping the ninth circuit court of appeals will allow her suit to proceed. Klayman says, "Gennifer has a strong case and she deserves her day in court."
That would be music to her ears.
