Psychic
Network Under Fire
The woman is everywhere, giving advice on life and love. But "Extra" has learned that Miss Cleo's future is bleak. There's bad blood between the mystic and her bosses and within days, we're told, this seer will vanish from the Psychic Reader's Network.
"Extra" uncovered the truth; charges of false advertising, price gouging, plagiarism, and even the chance that Miss Cleo will sue the Psychic Network herself.
The anger is mostly about money. The network generates up to 70,000 calls per day. CourtTV.com’s Matt Bean says, "One estimate puts the yearly revenue at around $400,000,000."
Miss Cleo's share is $67,000. Cleo is actually Youree Harris. She's 39 years old, a widow and mother of two, and yes, that accent is real. Harris was born and raised in Jamaica and while her psychic powers are in question, she is actually considered a shaman priestess there.
Now, as the Psychic Readers Network defends itself against fraud and telemarketing charges in nine states "Extra" learns yet another naysayer has emerged. Even Miss Cleo has questions about her employers' practices. Cleo could be a witness in a new lawsuit against the network. An author claims the psychic company ripped off the words from her book "Tarot Made Easy."
Miss Cleo is angry, says the author's attorney Sebastian Gibson, because Cleo doesn't want to be portrayed as a scam artist. In the lawsuit, Cleo says, "It's horrendous, it's disgusting. I told them long ago, 'Why are you doing this?'"
Now, facing a mountain of lawsuits and the departure of its famous fortuneteller, you don't have to be a psychic to see Miss Cleo and the psychic network are in for a bumpy ride.
