Surprising Judgements From Simon
America may think he's the King of Mean, but when Simon Cowell visited "Extra" on Wednesday he actually had some good things to say about the latest group of eight "Idols."
"Latoya gave one of the greatest performances ever given on the show," Cowell raved. "There were four singers last night who could have won last week."
Still, Cowell didn’t completely lay off the stingers during Tuesday’s show, telling one "Idol" hopeful, "You’re like Clay Aiken without personality," and describing another as: "Good singer, cheap performance."
But nobody could anticipate the bombshell that came 33 minutes and 48 seconds into the show, as Cowell uttered the words that shocked America: "I am going to say something really odd. I agree with you, Paula."
Cowell’s remark even inspired Paula to kiss him.
So is Simon softening? Don’t bet on it. "Trust me it won't be a habit," he assures us. "She really is like a dog: you praise her for fetching the ball and she licks you."
With such a monumental night in the books, Cowell thinks the show is hitting its stride. But what does he think about the announced return appearance of William Hung, the "She Bangs" guy, on "American Idol?"
"I think it its terrible. It turns it into America's worst
singer," said Simon. "I don't think it's funny."
Tune in to see which "Idols" will be laughing Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. on FOX.
