Jackson Bows Out of Horne Bio Pic
It was supposed to be the role of a lifetime: Janet Jackson playing the legendary Lena Horne. But as "Extra" first reported, after her controversial Super Bowl performance, her status on the project was in doubt. And now that Jackson is off the project, "Extra" sets the record straight.
First, did Jackson quit or get fired from the made-for-TV movie about Lena Horne's life? According to published reports Horne was so offended and angry by Janet’s Super Bowl stunt that she refused to sign her contract with ABC unless Jackson was not involved in the movie.
In the current issue of People magazine, columnist Zorianna Kitt says: "Janet finally resigned and backed away from the deal. It was all too much."
Reportedly, the entire project is now in limbo, as ABC searches for a new star for the movie.
So had Horne been Jackson’s idol? Last year at a Vanity Fair photo shoot, Jackson enjoyed posing as Lena Horne. At the time, she said she’d admired Horne her entire life, a fact that likely makes this a bitter feud.
"This must be so painful to her," Kitt said. "I can't imagine she expected this much fallout from her publicity stunt."
So will Jackson finally speak? According to published reports, Jackson will break her silence next month. She has reportedly decided to tell all to ABC’s Diane Sawyer. The timing of the interview is no coincidence -- she will release her new album at the same time.
