Janet Jackson Honored and Spotted Out on the Town
After two weeks in hiding, Janet Jackson was busting out a big smile as she received the "Touching a Life" Award from the wives of NBA players in Los Angeles this past weekend. It was Janet's first flash in front of a crowd since the Super Bowl.
The award honored Jackson for her tireless work with children. Only "Extra" got the chance to spend some time at the Jackson table with Janet, who was accompanied by her steady Jermaine Dupri, her mother Katherine, and big brother Jackie.
Janet told "Extra" that she's hanging in, doing just fine, and very excited about her new album.
Janet had been selected for the "Touching a Life" award seven months ago, and the organization claims the Super Bowl scandal didn't change a thing. "It doesn't change the fact that she is very committed to children," a representative told us. "She does step up and she's very involved."
Miss Jackson was also spotted with Dupri on Valentine’s Day at the Maxim party.
And Sunday, Janet was in the public again when the couple took in the NBA All-Star game and Beyonce's sensational halftime performance.
Janet’s record producer, Jimmy Jam, told "Extra" that she is working hard on her next album and wants to put the Super Bowl scandal behind her. Despite the uproar, Jimmy says he is proud of Jackson’s flash dance.
"I thought the Super Bowl halftime was wonderful," said Jam. "I'm a red-blooded American male. I happen to be married. I was going to call Justin and say thank you and say that was great… I think she's come through it great. I think we're going to have a great album and I’m very proud of her.
That album called "Damita Jo" (which is Janet’s middle name), is due out March 30th.
