The 2004 Grammy Awards
Music's biggest names arrived in style Sunday
night for the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. And from black
tie to blue jeans, anything goes for Grammy night.
Before taking home five Grammys, Beyoncé performed with Prince to open the show. The young star wore a knockout sparkling gown. She says, "My mom actually designed this dress. It is a touch of couture from our line."
And while Beyoncé was the talk of the carpet, Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl slipup still drew the biggest buzz. Bill Maher said, "I'm really embarrassed that I live in a country that freaked out about seeing a half a second of a blurry breast."
Prior to the Super Bowl, Jackson was scheduled to perform. But the academy’s president, Neil Portnow, said, "She was invited, but tonight is not about Janet Jackson."
But Jackson’s friend, Patti LaBelle had a different take. She said, "I spoke to Janet today, and Janet said that she wasn't asked to be here so that is why she's not here."
Plenty of other stars, however, still graced the red carpet. Madonna arrived with Guy Ritchie, and Carmen Electra came with her husband, Dave Navarro. Beyoncé and Jay Z walked in separately, and red-hot Paulina Rubio came with Cris Judd, who gave us his reaction to his ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez’s, split from Ben Affleck.
Judd said, "We were married and she's my ex-wife. I always have love for her. She knows that I'll always be there if she needs me."
Christina Aguilera mirrored 20’s fashion, and Gwen Stefani looked fabulous in a 40’s-style outfit. Queen Latifah donned a gorgeous green outfit, and Madonna was pretty in pink.
Justin Timberlake wore a tie, Jay-Z look great in Ralph Lauren, and John Mayer wore a chocolate brown suit.
