Oprah's Diet Secrets
She is fit and fabulous at 50, and now Oprah Winfrey lets us in on her diet secrets. After years of trying every diet in the world, Winfrey finally found the one thing that worked: wiping out white foods from her diet. She reveals to "Extra" her latest low-carb craze.
Winfrey says, "I cannot even pretend that I can eat bread and rice. I just have to let it go."
That means Winfrey eats no white bread, white rice, flour, sugar, pasta, and potatoes. Whole wheat pasta and breads are okay, but in moderation.
Winfrey’s other secret is her weight resistance training. Her magazine has even done stories about the routine that includes bicep curls, lat pulls, and squats.
Winfrey's longtime trainer Bob Green has been by her side for more than 10 years, throughout her highly publicized weight woes. During Winfrey’s first dramatic weight loss, she dropped 67 pounds on a liquid diet.
Four years later, Winfrey was up to her all time high--237 pounds. Finally, Greene says, she got a huge wake up call. Greene says, "She had palpitations of her heart, and it scared her."
Winfrey got back to eating healthy, exercising, and she even ran a marathon. Greene says, "She is in a zone, she really clicked."
Winfrey adds, "That's what working out and no rice will do for you."
