'American Idol'
"American Idol" is back with a vengeance. Nearly 27 million viewers made Wednesday night's show the most watched series ever on Fox.
In New York Thursday morning, "Extra's" special correspondent and Simon's girlfriend Terri Seymour asked judge Simon Cowell the secret to the show's success. Simon says, "It's good water cooler TV. I did promise the show would be more bizarre ... and boy was I right."
Helping to heat up the ratings this season, contestants aren't just taking it.. They're dishing it right back. Even a set of twins, who were already nixed from last year's auditions, came back for more abuse.
Wednesday night, auditions were from Los Angeles and Detroit. Next week, they wrap up in Atlanta and Nashville. If you think the competition is good now, host Ryan Seacrest says wait till the fun really begins. He says, "This is only the beginning. The show is better and it gets better with each that goes by."
