Simon Fills In For Regis

Filling in for Mr. Philbin on Monday was "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell. You might call him the anti-Regis.

You also might call him coldhearted, but Simon does have a sweetheart. She is a lovely lady named Terry Seymour, who was watching in the wings on assignment for "Extra."

After the show, co-host Kelly Ripa said, "I think he did a brilliant job. Regis should be very petrified, very afraid."

Of course, Cowell adores being idolized. But he tells Terry that he'll probably never do "The Simon Show." He says, "I don’t think so, no. These things are fun to do sporadically, but I don't know about full time."

"American Idol" returns Tuesday January 21st on Fox.
