Grammy Nominations
On February 23rd, New York's Madison Square Garden will be transformed into the world's largest boom box, hosting the 45th Grammy Awards. As the nominations were announced on Tuesday, it was all about sharing the wealth.
Rock and rap royals reign as Bruce Springsteen, Sheryl Crow, Nelly, and Eminem lead the pack with five nominations each. The veterans are joined by newcomers Norah Jones, Ashanti, and 18-year old Avril Lavigne, also grabbing five Grammy nods.
Nelly was among the early-rising stars that read the nominations this morning. He tells "Extra" that he is pumped for his Album of the Year battle against the Dixie Chicks, Norah Jones, Bruce Springsteen, and Eminem, and that blue-eyed bad boy.
It'll take "a little bit of this" and a lot of that for Michelle Branch to take Best New Artist over rival fabulous freshmen Ashanti, Avril, Norah, and multi-nominee John Mayer. And look for a possible red carpet reunion for Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake as they're both up for awards.
Meantime, Pink is sitting pretty with two nominations and perennial Grammy favorite Faith Hill is up for one as well. In addition to his reported romance with Gwyneth Paltrow, the lead singer of the red-hot British band Coldplay is celebrating multiple Grammy nods.
February 23rd - fresh faces and longtime favorites go head to head in New York on music's biggest night.
