Oprah's 50th Birthday
The Queen of TV is 50 and fabulous. This weekend the stars will arrive in Montecito near Santa Barbara for Oprah Winfrey's big-time blowout birthday bash.
Oprah's big day is so big, it will last the entire weekend. TV’s favorite gal of gab jetted from Chicago to Los Angeles for a lunch Friday with her 50 most fabulous women at the Bel Air Hotel.
Friday night is a dinner party at her modest $50 million ranch near Santa Barbara. And trucks are still speeding in and out of a neighbor’s house about a mile down the road that will host Saturday’s big birthday bash.
The star-studded guest list includes Halle Berry, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Diane Sawyer, Tina Turner, and California’s governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and his wife Maria Shriver.
Party guru Colin Cowie is running the show, and he told "Extra" how he makes celebrations a success. He says, "There are three great rules and two words of advice: great food, fabulous music, and tasty, snappy cocktails."
One of those snappy cocktails is sure to be Oprah's personal favorite. She reportedly spent $25,000 to fly in Cristal Rose champagne. Oprah will be surrounded by stars, but her personal stylist Bradley Bayou told "Extra" that this is her night to shine. He says, "She has a great sense of style."
But it will be tough to outdo Oprah’s televised birthday party on her show in Chicago. John Travolta, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, and Jay Leno, who pushed out an incredible 400-pound birthday cake, attended the celebration.
Even the great Smokey Robinson flew into the Windy City just to be part of the audience. And Oprah's steady Stedman had some sweet words for the birthday girl. He said, "I think she's amazing. I think she's just beginning; she has a vision larger than the show. She wants to make an impact around the world."
