'Cold Mountain'
The film is up for eight Golden Globe awards. Its three stars, Nicole Kidman, Renee Zellweger, and Jude Law, each received a nomination. But now "Cold Mountain’s" leading man, Jude Law, casts his vote for who he thinks should take home a trophy.
He says, "Anthony Minghella, beyond a doubt."
Jude is talking about the film’s writer and director, who gave his own glowing review of his charismatic star at the movie's Los Angeles premiere. Minghella said, "To see Jude Law explode in a movie and to announce himself as a genuine leading man, I am so proud of him."
"Cold Mountain" is a reunion for Law and Minghella. The two first teamed up on "The Talented Mr. Ripley," which brought Law his first Golden Globe nomination.
Law says, "Anthony creates an environment that brings out the best in everybody. He is very much at the heart of his films."
Law says the core of Minghella's magic lies in what he does after the film is finished. He says, "The film that we made was different from the film he cut and caressed and whittled into the film that everyone was able to see."
Law trusts this film is Oscar-worthy and looks forward to both the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. He says, "To be there on that night will be wonderful for the film as a whole and for Anthony as a whole. Just to celebrate will be fun."
