Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin's career is hot again thanks to his performance as a Brutish casino manager in "The Cooler," a role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination and Oscar buzz. But in real life, Baldwin is engaged in a heated custody battle with his ex-wife, Kim Basinger.

Famed divorce attorney Raoul Felder reviewed the Baldwin-Basinger court papers obtained by "Extra." He says the case, in which Baldwin is seeking more visitation with the couple's 8-year-old daughter and nearly $100,000 in legal fees, is about to get nasty.

Felder says, "It is a train wreck. This case can be as ugly as cases get. Two people are in a catfight for a child here, a little girl."

According to the documents, Baldwin claims he paid Basinger $4 million in a divorce settlement and continues to pay child support as Basinger continues to make movies. Meanwhile, both actors are reportedly making allegations of abuse against each other.

But Felder, who has a new book coming out about the art of negotiation, believes that the couple would be making a big mistake by going to court.

Felder says, "Everybody is going to be bloodied in a fight that is going to be pretty pointless. The best interest of the child is not to have parents in a catfight."
