Britney Reactions
The surprise wedding generated headlines all over the world. Britney Spears in ripped jeans and a baseball cap said "I do" in a quick ceremony at a Las Vegas wedding chapel.
After the 55-hour marriage was officially annulled, the superstar boarded a private jet to leave Sin City. One source tells us she went to Miami to work on a new music video.
Celebrity reaction is pouring in. Jennifer Aniston, who appeared on "The Late Show" with David Letterman, admitted that she is fascinated by the ordeal. Aniston said, "What happened in that little period of time? I'm so curious."
Pop star Mandy Moore, who appeared on MTV’s "TRL," was at a loss for words.
Spears walked down the aisle with 22-year-old Jason Alexander. Alexander’s longtime relationship with Spears is exposed in the upcoming issue of Us Weekly.
Senior Editor Caroline Schafer tells us that Alexander and Spears grew up together in Kentwood, Louisiana. The pair had a fling in high school and reconnected after the very public breakup between Spears and Justin Timberlake.
While the marriage may have been a "joke gone too far," Schafer tells us that Spears was not laughing during the ceremony. Schafer says, "We know that Jason had something for Britney for a very long time. Britney was indeed crying at the chapel before she got married. Her hands were shaking."
Us also reports that Spears has been calling Alexander, but that he won't turn her calls. In Kentwood, opinions about the marriage are split. Jason’s sister says, "We knew it was just a joke."
Erin Travis, whose niece went to Las Vegas with Alexander and Spears, says the couple was swept up by the moment. Travis says, "She was as surprised as anyone."
