Intel
Pocket PC Camera
Want to get in on the digital camera craze
but it all seems too complicated and definitely too expensive.
Check out the Intel Pocket PC camera. This little dynamo may
be just what you have been waiting for.
It is priced right at $129.00 (although a recent
search on the net found it for $99.00). Its lightweight,
small and reminiscent of the old Kodak Instamatic cameras.
Just point and click, perfect to document most any occasion.
However, like the old Instamatics dont expect too much
in the area of photo quality. It can take many more pictures
than your standard camera. The manual says it can hold up
to 120 pictures however during our test we found that it held
even more
180. That is the equivalent to over 6 rolls
of film.
This pocket cam can also take up to two minutes
of video (w/o sound) when untethered from the computer. When
it is connected via USB cable to your PC you can use it as
a web camera to make video conference calls.
Scared of the software that comes with something
like this, dont be. It is all provided for you and is
very user friendly. It enables you make photo albums, create
short movie presentations, send video emails, as well as make
cool postcards. It you feel like it, in a few clicks, you
can also build a web page with your pictures.
When you add it all up the Intel Pocket camera
is a bargain. It is such a great addition to the digital experience
that chances are computer makers will start shipping these
cameras as part of their PC packages in the near future.
