iTrip

Have an iPod? If the answer is yes, then you need to spend $35 and get yourself an iTrip. This will let you play all of your tunes through your car stereo, or any stereo that has a FM receiver for that matter.

After loading the software onto your iPod, you choose a clear signal that no station is broadcasting on, tune your iPod to that station, and presto - you are broadcasting!

There are a few drawbacks to the iTrip. You need to be within three feet of your stereo for it to pick up the signal and it does take a bit of fiddling with the iPod station list to get the hang of it. But, once you do, it’s a breeze. One helpful hint is to set the station on your car radio as soon as you have it working. This way you won’t have to go through the process of finding a clear station again.

All in all, the iTrip is a lifesaver if you are a music fan. If you have a lot of songs on your iPod, you could drive across the country several times before you heard the same song twice. Or to and from work every day for months. Until hard drives are part of every new car, the iTrip may be the best solution for easily transporting all of your favorite tunes to the car. So, give the iTrip a test drive. It’s definitely cool.
