Romantic Getaways

From snowy slopes to sun-drenched beaches, romantic retreats are turning up the heat this winter. For couples who want to be swept away we've found four luxury locations that guarantee to put the luster back in your love life.

Number one: the most romantic place on earth - Venice.

This travel guru's got the inside scoop on intimate escapes. He's editor-in-chief of Expedia Travels magazine Gary Walther. He says, "Go in the winter instead of summer. You don't have the crowds and you have the city to yourself in a way."

Number two: Vermont. The cozy twin farms inn combines rustic romance with a twist of snow. Walther says, "Twin Farms is probably the most expensive. It's a very un-hotel-like-hotel. They'll arrange whatever you want. It's really a luxury hotel in the woods."

Number three: exotic Mustique Island. These unique villas are ideal if a secluded tropical paradise is more to your taste.. Here you hobnob with royalty and rockers. In fact, you can even rent Mick Jagger's Caribbean crib for about $15,000 a week.

Walther says, "It's probably one of the best places to relax in high style in all of the Caribbean. This is like having a villa on a private island, you have the island to yourself.

And number four on our list: northwest hideaway Vancouver Islands. If your the kind of couple who's passion lies in the eye of the storm, this one's for you.

Walther says, "The Wickeninish Inn is probably the most off beat and adventurous. It's a hotel that was built to watch storms and I always think that tempestuous weather and romance go together."

So whether it's romantic Venice -- rustic Vermont -- stormy Vancouver or magical Mustique - shake those winter blues and escape to an extraordinary place and get lost in love.
