Shopping
for Your Loved Ones
Some
good advice for people who always hurt the one they
love when it comes to buying the wrong holiday gift.
There are lots of perfect presents out there, you just
have to find them. That's what Mike Bryant's doing in
today's Consumer Pay-off.
If shopping for your lover has you stressed and running
for cover, relax, don't crawl under the sheets. We'll
help you find great gifts, maybe even a few treats.
But finding gifts for that special someone isn't always
easy, just ask struggling shoppers Tim and Laurie Hennessy.
Laurie admits, "We've been together for so long for
10 years, we need some fresh ideas."
Maybe they should talk to Ken and Mary Hanes who always
find just the right gifts. Ken says, "I wouldn't want
to give her a list. I like to surprise her."
Mary says, "I usually start shopping in August and I'm
wrapped by the middle of November."
But Tim and Laurie aren't nearly that organized and
need a little help finding the perfect present. We've
paired them with personal shopper Carol Levin who has
the secrets to buying great gifts for your lover. Carol
says, "You have to go with your instincts… their likes,
their dislikes, whether they have hobbies"
So instead of lingerie, try something new, like a jewelry
tattoo. Instead of slippers, how about a funky foot
massager? Lose the barbecue tools, think new kitchen
gadgets.
But the gift doesn't have to be boring, if you're more
thoughtful with your shopping. Mary says, "I usually
try to find something that is like a memory of something
we've had together. The thing about a gift like this
is it's attached to a memory."
So maybe Tim and Laurie should take ken and mare's advice.
They may still need to keep the receipts, but at least
this year the couple will have surprises for each other
that will be a real treat.
