Nude Vacations
Friday June 15, 2001

Survivor winner Richard Hatch went buck-naked on primetime TV. Clothing free cruise ships are packed with sunbathers in the buff, or even a nude group wedding in Jamaica.

Pack plenty of suntan lotion, nude travel is taking off. Three hundred million bare bottom bucks last year. Nuderecreation has tripled in the last decade.

“Once you’re in a nudist or a naturist environment you'll feel the stress melt away,” says Steve Payne, owner of the Desert Shadows Inn.

Payne says business has never been better. They come to this upscale Palm Springs, California resort from all over the world to relax in their birthday suits.

One tourist says, “When you come here you get to know the person for the person.”

Easy to do because everything here's done in the nude. Lounging in the pool, lunch at the café, even working out in the weight room.

But if there's one thing the nudists, the naturists want you to know, places like this are not about sex. Payne says, “Too many people confuse nudity and sex and nothing could be further from the truth.”

Relaxing and liberating the nudists say, try it and you too will trade that bathing suit for your birthday suit.
